What are causal adverbs?

Causal adverbs tell you why something is happening. You can also describe the consequences of an action with them. Furthermore they tell the conditions or reason for an action.

Causal adverb	Example	Example translation
Daher	Das kommt daher, dass es noch nicht fertig ist.	That is because it isn't finished yet
Also	Also ging er nachhause.	So he went outside
Darum	Darum mag ich diesen Film nicht.	Therefore I don't like the movie
Dadurch	Dadurch habe ich viel gelernt.	Thereby I have learned a lot
Deswegen	Deswegen möchte ich nichts mehr davon hören.	For this reason I don't want to hear any more of it
Demnach	Demnach ist der Vertrag ungültig.	Thus, the contract is not legitimate
Nämlich	Das sehe ich nämlich nicht so.	I actually agree
Deshalb	Deshalb weise ich nochmal darauf hin.	That is why I point it out to you again
Sonst	Sonst wäre ich nicht hier.	Otherwise I wouldn't be here
Folglich	Er war gestern krank, folglich war er nicht auf Arbeit.	He was sick yesterday, therefore he didn't go to work
Ansonsten	Ansonsten kannst du mich freitags immer erreichen.	Otherwise you can always reach me on friday
