"My name is" in Vietnamese
Below you can find the expressions with regard to asking for and telling the name.

| What's your name? | Bạn tên là gì? | Bạn literally means "friend", therefore only in informal settings, when addressant is more a less the same age |
| My name is ... | Tôi tên là ... | Formal but when only when there is no significant age difference |
| Nice to meet you. | Rất vui được gặp bạn. | Informal, when the other person is more a less the same age |
"How are you" in Vietnamese
We will provide you with the phrases of asking how someone is doing and the response accordingly.
