Slovak keyboard and how to type Slovak letters

After you learned the lesson about the Slovak alphabet, it is time to have a look at the Slovak keybord. In this lesson you will learn how to type all those strange special letters of Slovak alphabet. 

First of all, switch your keyboard to Slovak. Here is the picture of how Slovak keyboard looks.

How to write lowercase letters 

As you can see, when writing lowercase letters, you can use keys on a keyboard.

There is a letter, not appeared on a keyboard and you need to type is with combination of keys.

• ď = shift+ ˇ and after press "d"

How to write capital letters 

When writing capital letters, you need to use the key ˇ',

where ˇ is written with shift and the key above, and ' is written simply by pressing the key.

Example:

• Ň ---> shift + , shift + n
• Á --->  , shift + a
• Ď ---> shift + , shift + d

Exceptions are capital letters Ô and Ä. In usual conversation you will never use those capital letters, as they always appear in the middle of words. However, it is good to know how to type them.

• Ô ---> alt + , shift + o
• Ä ---> alt + the key where "ň" is, shift + a

Other exceptions:

• Dž is written with only capital D, followed by small letter ž
• Ch is written with only capital C, followed by small letter h

Capital and small letters with the acute mark

• ó --->  followed by o
• ĺ --->   followed by l
• ŕ --->  followed by r
• Ó --->  followed by shift + o
• Ĺ --->  followed by shift + l
• Ŕ --->  followed by shift + r
